RESEARCH TRANSPARENCY
How to read the research and scores.
An Opportunity Score summarizes an assessment. The evidence, geographic scope, and assumptions explain what that assessment means.
Six research dimensions
- ROI & payback
- Revenue, cost, and investment assumptions used to explore possible returns and recovery of startup costs.
- Market demand
- Evidence about the customers and purchase occasions relevant to the proposed business.
- Competition
- Relevant competing businesses and substitutes within the researched area.
- Cost structure
- Estimated setup and operating requirements, including premises, staffing, and other material costs where evidence is available.
- Regulation
- Research into permits, licenses, and operational requirements that need confirmation with the relevant authority.
- Demographics
- Population and customer characteristics relevant to the business and geographic scope.
Sources, dates, and geography
Reports can combine public datasets, business listings, web research, and modeled assumptions. Source references and available dates accompany the research. A city, metro area, and neighborhood are different scopes; do not treat them as interchangeable. Geographic boundary vintage and research completion date describe different things.
Scoring and comparison
Read individual dimension grades alongside the overall score. Compare reports using the same scoring version, business concept, assumptions, and geographic scope. A numerical score is an assessment, not a probability of success or a verified investment return. Missing evidence increases uncertainty even when the displayed score is high.
AI-assisted research
Opportunity View uses automated and AI-assisted research and analysis. Sources can be incomplete, out of date, or interpreted incorrectly. Do not assume that every report has received an independent human review. Verify material claims with the linked source and with current local evidence.
Practical validation
Before committing money, validate customer demand, obtain current premises and supplier quotes, check licensing with the local authority, and test the financial assumptions for your circumstances. This research supports investigation; it does not guarantee commercial results.
Corrections and support
If a source or conclusion appears incorrect, contact support with the report link and the evidence that should be checked.
